So the weekend didn't get any better for us. Still the ugly, maybe even the uglier. Saturday we had Jim, his sister and her husband over to celebrate her birthday which is today actually.
We made burgers for dinner. Which aren't too bad I guess but then added bacon to them. 1 1/2 slices to mine. And throughout the night had Doritos, Sun Chips and brownies. I also had a little debbie's s'more. No drinking this time so at least there weren't extra bad for us calories. We also went to see Hungry Games and although planned on having popcorn and a soda we ended up not doing so. So at least we didn't make it worse that way either.
Sunday wasn't too bad. I mowed the lawn for the 1st time this year and although temp wise it was only around 55 or so I still got my sweat on because it was nice and sunny. We had hot dogs & chips and another brownie for lunch. But since I poured out the chips onto my plate rather than eating them straight out the bag I really didn't have that many. So that meal was 1/2 and 1/2.
For dinner we had a Jack Daniel's brisket (one of the kind you heat up in the microwave), corn and green beans with a dinner roll and a half. So that wasn't too bad of a dinner either.
Actually, now that I'm looking back on everything it wasn't as ugly as I thought. Saturday night was ugly, that goes without saying, but we had baked chicken and tator tots for lunch which are around 500 calories total, which isn't a bad meal really. I had done some shopping earlier in the morning so got a bit of exercise there while walking around the store and bending and lifting items. And I also vacuumed the basement and kitchen and straightened the kitchen which got a sweat going. So, yeah, not near as ugly as I first thought.
Tonight I will be getting back on the elliptical and/or treadmill. HDT has to go in at 10 so not sure if he'll do anything or not.
Oh how I'd love to be able to get away without exercise or eating more healthily but I can't. So here's my journey, the good, the bad and the ugly.

It's ugly this week
So it's pretty much been the ugly this week. Although we're not eating as bad as we used to we're not doing as good as we could and there's been very little exercising going on.
Tuesday we cleaned the garage. Didn't do the whole thing but did pretty good with it. Hell, we were out there for two hours. So I know some calories were knocked out but then we had take out Italian beef. So who knows how many calories are in those. Once again, no where near as bad as we could've been but still.
That's pretty much the only exercise that's gone on this whole week. And today I'm sure there won't be any again. He's picking me up from work and we're going to the Apple store to try to figure out what's wrong with his phone. By the time we get out of there and then have dinner neither of us will feel like doing anything and because we're good at enabling each other we won't do anything.
Yep, gotta get back into it. Gotta, gotta, gotta.

Peeing Day
So, yeah, I gained back a couple pounds. Actually it had looked like I gained back all 3 that I had lost before but with my period in play I figured I'd reevaluate once that was all done. And sure enough as usual I had my "peeing day" that I tend to do almost every month. I noticed in the last year or so that within a day, sometimes two, of my period ending I have to pee just about every hour. It's crazy really. Anyway, I had that the other day and sure enough the next day I was over a pound lighter. So I definitely retain water during my period which I never used to do.
So, yeah, only up 2 pounds really. But still that's bad enough, I'm right back where I started. Last weekend really was worse than I thought I guess.
The last two nights we've taken Poydras for a walk but both times it was probably only for about a mile and we didn't do anything more when we got home. So I certainly don't expect any good results this past week.
But, we now have an actual goal to aspire to and not just trying to get to a certain weight. Not only do we each want to reach a certain weight (mines 135-140) but we want to go on vacation for our anniversary. And we want it to be in Canada visiting friends. If we kick it in high gear and actually lose the 2 pounds a week we want to do that's 58 pounds. That's actually all I have to lose and that puts me at 136. Yep, I'm 194 right now. To be able to lose everything I want to by then would be wonderful. Hell, I'd be happy to lose half of that even. When I lost the 23 pounds I had a couple years ago and was still 162 I looked and felt soooo much better. Yep, I was 185 before and since then I've gained all that 23 back and then some. Sucks to be me.
But if I only lost 1 pound a week that's still 29 pounds which would put me at 165, so yep, still over weight but looking and feeling much better.
And HDT being a guy and much heavier than me would be able to lose more than the 58 if he kicks it in. He'd still be a big guy but I know he'd feel better about himself and he'd definitely look better than he does now. I'm not going to put his weight on here since I've actually never spoken to him about this site so he doesn't even know it exists, so therefore no permission from him to speak about something as personal as the "number."
While on the walk for Poydras last night HDT brought up riding bikes again. I'm glad to hear it, hopefully we'll be doing that soon as well. And I mentioned that we have to start lifting weights as well and he agreed.
His friend Pat whose had some health issues is overweight also. The other night while visiting they discussed him coming over to use our treadmill. If that happens that'll get HDT to work out more. He's pretty much stopped again other than the last two days when I've gotten him to go for the walks with Poydras. He'd feel a lot more guilty not doing something with Pat than he would/does when he doesn't do anything with me while I'm on one of the machines.
Wish us luck.

Weekend Update
So our weekend went half and half again. I did get a good workout in on Saturday morning. I used both the elliptical and treadmill. I need to start doing the weights again as well. Although I did use the 5 pounders while on the treadmill for a bit.
And because I got up at 9am and immediately worked out and wasn't particularly hungry after doing so then got ready to do some shopping I only had one meal before dinner. That meal (lunch) was a turkey sandwich on breadthins and a 1oz bag of Doritos. I ended up breaking down about an hour after that and eating one more bag of chips though. But even so, with the workout and light lunch I had over 800 calories to use up with dinner. Which I'm sure they were since it was noodle based meal.
I had Ling's Low Mien for dinner. Which, along with the noodles, has pork, chicken, beef and shrimp along with Chinese greens. It's oh so good but I'm sure chock full of calories.
Sunday was ok. We had frozen fish (baked) with some tots (also baked) for our brunch. Then HDT had to go to work from 3-6. While he did that I ran to the store to get a couple items and since it was so nice out when I got home I decided to take Poydras for a walk.
We had a nice 40 minute walk along one of our trails where he got to see ducks, squirrels and even a frog along with several other people walking and biking along. On our way back to the car I even picked up the pace 3 different times. They were very short/quick jogs but still, that's better than not doing it at all. They certainly got my heart pumping.
For dinner we had Italian beef sandwiches. Not the best but certainly not as bad as some other foods we could have chosen since neither of us felt like cooking.
Tonight I'm going to have to do a very quick workout before he gets home so I have enough time to clean up afterward because we're supposed to be going over to his sister's house for his nephew's birthday. And we'll have to leave pretty much as soon as he walks in the door.

Only a so/so week.
So I've done good and bad since Monday. Although the only day I've worked out since was Wednesday.
As usual Tuesday was our day off although I ate well for both breakfast and lunch. And actually dinner wasn't that bad either really. HDT's mom made me a birthday dinner of pork roast, garlic mashed potatoes and corn. And I was good and only had one bun. Bread is my down fall, big time. But I did go back a couple times for the potatoes. Love me some garlic mashed.
Wednesday I worked out again. Ate well for breakfast and lunch. And now can't for the life of me remember what we had for dinner. Oh yeah, one of those Hormel 4 minute microwave meats (the Italian beef tips) and some fake (potato flakes) garlic mashed potatoes. Although this time I was bad and had two rolls. But since I did well with food over all and I worked out my calories were still under for the day even with the bread. But then I believe (didn't put them in the counter) the couple cookies I had for desert put me over.
But as HDT points out, the calories I'm allowed by Lose It are the recommended amount to lose 2 pounds a week. Since I didn't go over by much I'm still ok because it'd still be under my usual calories I'd eat from before we started this.
Last night I had every intention of working out, even washed my face and put on my sports bra when I got home. But by the time HDT got home and dinner was made and eaten I no longer had the desire to get on the treadmill, let alone the elliptical.
And today we're going over to some friends house to have a cook out and learn how to play euchre. So there won't be any exercise today either. But breakfast and lunch have been good as always. At least I don't have to worry about those, during the work week anyway.
Tomorrow I'll have to make sure I get a good workout in. Especially because we'll be taking another friend and his family out to our favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner. We're taking them out in appreciation of him helping with the kitchen floor, well mostly doing it actually.
This week my weight has pretty much held steady. Only going up and down a little bit at a time, never even a full pound. But what could I expect really what with the little exercise to help it out.

Losing feels good
So, I've lost 2.7 pounds in just the one week that I've been eating better and working out. Of course, 1 or more of those pounds could just be because of normal fluctuation. But I choose to believe that I've actually lost them. Especially since it was 1 pound first, the next day was another and then the rest was on the 3rd day. I've held steady since Friday.
Well, that's not quite true. I did go up .5 pounds today but I know that's because of the very bad dessert I had yesterday and the movie theater popcorn on Saturday. Heh
It being my birthday and all yesterday we decided to do a couple movies with going to Chili's in between on Saturday. I still did my normal workout in the afternoon and I had a very good meal at Chili's. I had their salmon, rice and steamed broccoli dinner. Although it was 897 calories (almost all in the salmon of course) we had only had one other meal that day because we got up so late. So I only went over my cals by 96 for the day with that meal. Then of course the movie popcorn put me over more. Not sure how much since I had the junior but I'm sure it was at least a few more hundred since I did get butter added. But because the food I had eaten for breakfast and then the dinner was all good for me food I don't care that the cals were so high for them.
Sunday I worked out again even though it was my birthday. I thought about taking a day off but decided there really wasn't any reason not to so I got on the treadmill this time. Dinner again wasn't too bad although I did have garlic mashed potatoes. But then we went to Red Lobster for the best worst dessert ever:
This is their molten cookie lava cake. It's a warm chocolate chip cookie filled with gooey chocolate with a scoop of ice cream on top. This killed me with 1,070 calories. We each had our own. But I don't care, it was my birthday cake.
